The 1986 Kenner Toy Fair Catalog celebrated the latest additions to the company’s beloved lines, such as Super Powers and Star Wars. As Kenner entered the second half of the 1980s, it continued to ride the success of Star Wars and its other hit toy lines. So, the 1986 Kenner Toy Fair Catalog had over a hundred pages packed with upcoming toys.
Even though the Star Wars trilogy ended with 1983’s Return of the Jedi, Kenner continued to produce new toy lines. This catalog featured both the Star Wars Ewoks and Star Wars Droids toys. Unlike the previous movie-based toy lines, these ones moved away from the more realistic aesthetic to appeal to younger audiences.
Beyond Star Wars, Kenner focused on many other boys’ toy lines. For instance, they provided information on the Centurions Power Xtreme and Chuck Norris Karate Kommandos. Multiple pages were dedicated to the DC-based toys, Super Powers.
Then, Kenner introduced readers to one of their original creations, M.A.S.K. (Mobile Armored Strike Kommand). This line combined human action figures with imaginative vehicles. Like other hit toy lines at the time, M.A.S.K. gained even more fans through multimedia marketing, such as its hit cartoon show.

About Our Kenner Catalog Scans
Kenner handed out catalogs to attendees of toy fairs and other events to promote their upcoming slate of products. Each catalog was filled with information about their newest toys, even ones still in development. Thus, they often provided the first looks at action figures, playsets, vehicles, and more from their lines. Therefore, they have become valuable and rare collector’s items.
These Kenner Toy Fair Catalogs featured toys from their beloved lines. For instance, their ground-breaking Star Wars toy line often appeared in these catalogs. Kenner also gave players the chance to live out superhero fantasies with the Super Powers action figures. Another of their beloved lines, M.A.S.K., also were featured in multiple catalogs. There were also other action figure lines like Centurions.
Kenner used in-production prototypes in their images, as these catalogs were prepared before the lines were released. This meant that the featured toys often differed from the retail releases. Moreover, toys sometimes appeared only on these catalog pages, as they were canceled or never hit retail store shelves.
While Kenner only handed these booklets out to trade professionals, we have now made them available to all. You can explore the toys featured in these catalogs with our Kenner Toy Fair Catalog Scans. This is a rare treat since catalogs like these have become increasingly difficult to locate with each passing year.
