The 1997 Hasbro Toy Fair Catalog provided information on Boys’ Toys, like Star Wars action figures, playsets, and vehicles. Now that Hasbro owned Kenner, they also had gained control over the Star Wars license. So, they happily introduced several new toys to help celebrate the return of Star Wars to the silver screen in 1997.

On this page, Hasbro presented #69600: Star Wars Lightsaber Assortment. This assortment included full-scale reproductions of Darth Vader’s and Luke Skywalker’s famous Jedi Knight weapons. These toys required 2 “C” batteries to function, not included.
Next, they presented #69620: Star Wars Small Vehicle Assortment along with #69653: Cruisemissile Trooper. This radically-designed, battle-ready ship had extendable wings and a lever-controlled pop-up pilot figure. It also featured two blaster cannons that fired long-range “laser” missiles.
Hasbro also featured #69775: Star Wars TIE Fighter, the unmistakable Imperial fighter that fit one figure in the cockpit. The figure was sold separately.
Then, there was #69770: Star Wars Landspeeder, which featured authentic movie decoration and battle definition.
Furthermore, Hasbro promoted #695990: Star Wars Mid-Sized Vehicle Assortment, which featured three different vehicles.
First, there was #69663: Luke’s T-16 Skyhopper. Fans could disengage the cockpit while the multi-position wings created two vehicles in one. Moreover, it featured a pivoting blaster cannon that could be attached to both ships.
Next was #69662: Darth Vader’s TIE Fighter, which had an all-new, authentic design. This was the TIE fighter just for Darth Vader, who was sold separately. It featured retractable laser cannons and firing laser missiles. Thus, fans could create a starfighter for Lord Vader.
Finally, they featured #69732: A-Wing Fighter With Pilot, the fastest Rebel starfighter. It included an exclusive A-Wing Fighter Pilot. Its laser cannons rotated 360 degrees, the canopy raised and lowered, and the landing gear extended by remote activation.

They also partnered with Takara to bring the Transformers to the Western market. The company also dipped into the fantastical worlds of Air Raiders, Inhumanoids, and Visionaries: Knights of the Magical Light. After Hasbro acquired Kenner, they also became the home of toy lines like Jurassic Park and Star Wars.
Hasbro used in-production prototypes in their images, as these catalogs were prepared before the lines were released. This meant that the featured toys often differed from the retail releases.
