In this article, we explore the captivating world of Galaxy Fighters and unveil the timeline of their inception. Join us as we discover when the first Galaxy Fighters action figures were made.

Galaxy Fighters: One of Many He-Man Knock-offs

The 1980s saw a rise in the popularity of the Masters of the Universe action figures by Mattel. Many small toy companies made knock-offs of this line. Such toy companies are Sungold and Sewco. With the great success that He-Man was having, it’s no surprise that smaller manufacturers wanted some of the glory as well. The Galaxy Fighters by Sewco came along shortly after the Galaxy Warriors by Sungold. Manufacturers could make these knock-offs because Mattel had no copyright over the body emboldened.

The First Galaxy Fighters Action Figures

Galaxy Fighters emerged onto the toy scene during the early 1980s. Manufactured by Sewco, these action figures showcased a team of intergalactic warriors. With vibrant colors, these figures were a hit among toy collectors and kids. Sewco did not create profile cards or provide a backstory. They relied on similarity to more expensive toy lines for their sales.

Expanding the Universe

Building on the initial success, Sewco expanded the Galaxy Fighters universe with new waves of action figures throughout the mid-1980s. Bio: I am the founder and owner of Wheeljack’s Lab pop Culture and Toy Shop. My vision has always been to reunite customers with their favorite childhood toys and pop culture, triggering fond memories, and reigniting their imaginations. Every day, I work in the “lab” where it’s Christmas 365 days a year. I scour the internet, like when we had the Sears Catalog of yesteryear, for the next great treasure. Then, I await the arrival of the postman as if he were Santa Claus himself and helping collectors worldwide with their versions of Christmas. Every day as a vintage toy buyer is an absolute joy!
