The First Knight Rider Action Figures

ERTL, a less famous toy manufacturer, made a Knight Rider toy line in 1982. Kenner, a well-known toy manufacturing company, later introduced Knight Rider action figures in 1983 based on the show. ERTL’s toy line was small, consisting of two models of the Knight 2000 vehicle, one at 1/25 scale and one at 1/64 scale. Kenner’s line had multiple versions of the Knight 2000 and a Michael Knight action figure. The Kenner Knight Rider action figures were approximately 6 inches tall and were made of plastic, featuring limited articulation and basic accessories.

While the initial figures may not have possessed intricate details, they still ignited the imaginations of young fans who recreated their favorite Knight Rider scenes. The KITT (Knight Industries Two Thousand) action figure even had a feature that allowed children to launch a small plastic projectile from the car’s hood.

The first Knight Rider action figures emerged during the show’s heyday. These figures allowed fans to extend their Knight Rider experience beyond the television screen and engage in imaginative play. Today, these vintage toys are artifacts, representing a nostalgic era and reminding us of the enduring legacy of Knight Rider.

Bio: I am the founder and owner of Wheeljack’s Lab pop Culture and Toy Shop. My vision has always been to reunite customers with their favorite childhood toys and pop culture, triggering fond memories, and reigniting their imaginations. Every day, I work in the “lab” where it’s Christmas 365 days a year. I scour the internet, like when we had the Sears Catalog of yesteryear, for the next great treasure. Then, I await the arrival of the postman as if he were Santa Claus himself and helping collectors worldwide with their versions of Christmas. Every day as a vintage toy buyer is an absolute joy!
