Kenner’s SilverHawks first landed on the scene in 1987, but was quickly shooed off of shelves in 1988. The line was based on a syndicated television show produced by Rankin/Bass Animated Entertainment. The toy line featured a cast of colorful characters, from the SilverHawks’ Quicksilver and the Copper Kidd to the Mob’s Mon*Star and Buzz-Saw. The line had a connection to ThunderCats in both their production and universe. The SilverHawks toys were also originally intended to be produced by LJN, who produced the ThunderCats toys, before the company backed out and Kenner took on the mantle. We will explore the top 10 expensive SilverHawks toys and what defines them.
A stand-out feature of the toy line was the inclusion of a “Fighting Hawk” with each figure. The Fighting Hawks had unique powers that aided both the SilverHawks and Mob in their battles against each other. Each figure had an inbuilt play feature, most notably Mon*Star’s swappable head and the splaying wings of many of the SilverHawks. There were three vehicles produced for the characters to pilot: the Maraj (pronounced “mirage,”) Sky-Runner, and Sprinthawk. On top of the figures and vehicles, there were large versions of three Fighting Hawks: Sky-Shadow, Tally-Hawk, and Stronghold. The Fighting Hawks split duties between being role-playing toys and interacting with the figures, with features such as flapping wings while also being able to grab and pick up figures.
Due to the line’s untimely demise, several toys never made it to shelves, and various toys from the second wave are rather elusive and popular on the secondhand market. Kenner produced their SilverHawks toys with as much care and quality as any other Kenner product, though the vacuum metalizing present on many of the SilverHawks is prone to wearing.
Presenting the Ten Most Expensive SilverHawks Toys That Have Sold on Online Auction Sites
Unfortunately, SilverHawks was not a particularly popular toy line, and only took up residency on shelves for approximately one year. While the line featured high-quality toys, it simply failed to capture the attention of children or stores. The blink-and-you-miss-it toy line’s cancellation left a hole in the hearts of fans, resulting in the revival of the toy line by Super7 in 2022. Due to the same factors, the original run of heroes and villains have accrued in value. We hope to present an accurate and detailed list of the ten most expensive SilverHawks toys.
We sought out the ten most expensive listings of SilverHawk toys that have sold from online auction sites. To achieve this goal, we utilized archival sites such as Worthpoint. We also only listed the most expensive instance of each SilverHawks toy. Interestingly, no prototype versions of SilverHawks figures appear to have ever been sold, resulting in their absence from our list. As we aim to highlight the perceived value of individual toys, we excluded any listings for lots or complete collections. Please note that we use our own photos of the products when applicable.
10. AFA 80+ MOSC Mumbo-Jumbo With Airshock
A key member of the Mob, Mumbo-Jumbo was a powerful minotaur that fought against the SilverHawks. His Fighting Hawk was Airshock, which turned into a mighty hammer for Mumbo-Jumbo to wield. Beyond his hawk hammer, Mumbo-Jumbo also featured an action where upon squeezing his legs, his neck would extend, which the packaging described as “battering-ram head action.”
An AFA 80+ Near Mint copy of Mumbo-Jumbo and Airshock was listed on Hake’s Auctions in 2024. The card was unpunched and in great condition, making for an excellent piece. An eager fan charged in, securing the piece for $460.79 on March 20, 2024, marking it as tenth in the list of the most expensive SilverHawks toys sold online.
9. AFA 80 MOSC Mon*Star With Sky Shadow
One of the most visually striking figures from the SilverHawks lineup, Mon*Star was the undisputed leader of the Mob. The Mob’s menacing monochromatic mastermind came bundled with an interesting companion. Like all other figures from the line, Mon*Star has a Fighting Hawk, though his strongly resembled a bat over any avian. Sky-Shadow, the Fighting Hawk, would grab ahead of itself when its head was pressed in, and could hang off of either of Mon*Star’s wrists. Mon*Star would swap his head out for his helmet in a unique play feature. Upon pressing the figure’s knees inward, Mon*Star’s chest and back would pop open, making either head available to swap to.
A listing for a graded copy of Kenner’s Mon*Star was put onto Hake’s Auctions in 2024. The figure was still sealed in its card, though the card was punched and has a crease on one corner. The figure received an AFA rating of 80, and was sold to the highest bidder for $592.89 on March 20, 2024.
8. MISB Sprinthawk
The Sprinthawk was the SilverHawks’ one-seater spacecraft, often piloted by team leader Quicksilver. The craft had been styled after a bird of prey, with feather details on the wings, implied beak and eyes, and more. The Sprinthawk was white with light gray wings and a translucent orange canopy. The vehicle’s cockpit could fit most, if not all, SilverHawk figures, and had a bar for Fighting Hawks to perch upon.
A fan listed their sealed copy of the Sprinthawk on eBay in 2023. The box had visible wear on the edges of the box, and the tape on the box had turned yellow. Despite this, the box was still wholly intact and the item within was untouched. The ship sold on July 31, 2023, for $619.97, securing it as one of the most expensive SilverHawks toys of all time.
7. Sky-Runner
This unusual monster was the Sky-Runner, Mon*Star’s special attack vehicle. The mode of transportation was actually a living creature granted armor by Mon*Star. The orange creature had two large eyes and five tentacles composing its maw. On the rear of the Sky-Runner was a perch for Sky-Shadow to rest on. Beneath the perch was a knob that controlled the tentacles at the front of the vehicle, under which was a missile that could be shot at SilverHawk forces.
A fan listed a loose copy of the Sky-Runner on eBay in early 2023. The toy was complete and in great condition, with undamaged stickers and intact instructions. The winning bidder ended up paying $844.95 for the vehicle on March 29, 2023.
6. AFA 70+ MOSC Flashback With Backlash
Flashback was a unique SilverHawk, hailing from the future where the main SilverHawks had perished. The hero prevented their demise and frequently fought alongside the present-day SilverHawks. Flashback sported a green suit with large eyes, one exposed arm and talon-like feet. The head and torso were vacuum metalized, drawing attention to the core of the figure. Flashback’s Fighting Hawk, Backlash, featured a feature where it could capture figures using a loop under the figure.
A listing for an AFA 70+ sealed Flashback appeared on eBay during the summer of 2023. The card was punched and had minimal wear along its edges. A buyer obtained the figure for a clean $1,000.00 on June 27, 2023.
5. AFA 85 Copper Kidd With May-Day
The Copper Kidd was a unique SilverHawk among his peers. Unlike his Earthling teammates, the hero came from the Planet of the Mimes, and as such, he had a blue body, white face, and pointed ears and head. The Copper Kidd also spoke with a significant electronic distortion. The character was very intelligent and had a trivia segment with Bluegrass at the end of episodes. Correlating with his name, the SilverHawk wore a copper-colored suit, as did Fighting Hawk. Mayday was copper-colored and had very large eyes. The avian had a play feature where it functioned exactly like a basic whistle.
A listing for the Copper Kidd showed up on eBay in 2024. The box had various marks on the front and back of it but was otherwise in great condition and received an AFA 85 rating. The listing had various bids placed on it, resulting in it selling on March 20, 2024, for $1,103.30.
4. CAS 80+ MOSC Quicksilver With Tally-Hawk
Every team needs its leader. While Mon*Star ruled the Mob, the SilverHawks were led by Quicksilver. He wore a chrome suit and featured the most restrained design out of the team. Quicksilver’s Fighting Hawk, Tally-Hawk, was the basis for the SilverHawks toy line logo. Upon pressing the bird’s head in, its wings close together in a self-described scissor motion.
The owner of a sealed Quicksilver listed the figure on eBay. CAS gave the toy an 80+ rating. The seller broke the rating down in the listing to a 80 card rating, 85 bubble/blister rating, and finally, an 85 figure rating. The listing also included its CAS statement of archival with a further breakdown of the item and rating. The figure was purchased on December 04, 2023, for $1,149.99.
3. CAS 75 MOSC Steelheart With Rayzor
Steelheart was a SilverHawk with a metal heart. She wore a vacuum metalized cobalt blue suit. Steelheart and her twin brother, Steelwill, served the same purpose on the team. They created the Fighting Hawks for themselves, Bluegrass, and the Copper Kidd. Like the majority of the SilverHawks, Steelheart had a “snap-out wing” function where her arms would splay to reveal underarm wings to soar through the air. She came packed in with Rayzor, which would become a tomahawk upon extending the bird’s neck.
A sealed Steelheart with a CAS 75 rating appeared on eBay in 2024. The card had some visible wear, but the bubble and figure were in good shape. A fan purchased the figure on January 24, 2024, for $1,525.00.
2. AFA 85 MISB Maraj
Pronounced “mirage,” the Maraj was the SilverHawks’ primary spacecraft. The ship could hold all 5 main Silverhawks, and had spots for 4 hawks to perch. The front of the vehicle was styled after a predatory bird, with a noticeable beak and pair of eyes. Interestingly, the stabilizers on the ship were much smaller than those present on the vehicle in the cartoon. The toy featured an array of functions, such as how the central cockpit could eject from the rest of the ship to become a space motorcycle.
An incredibly rare sealed Maraj was listed on eBay in 2018. AFA had graded the set and provided it with a rating of 85. The package was in great condition with only minor wear on the edges of the box. The item sold on August 11, 2018, for $1,595.00 to an eager fan, earning it the second spot in our list of the top 10 expensive SilverHawks toys ever sold.
1. MOSC Quicksilver With Ultrasonic Suit
The Quicksilver with Ultrasonic Suit figure was one of the rarest SilverHawks toys ever made! As interest in the toy line dwindled, many toy lines refused to stock the second series of toys, resulting in those figures becoming incredibly rare. The toy featured a visor that fans could flip down. Like the prior incarnation of Quicksilver, this toy came packaged with Tally-Hawk, though it lacked any independent play feature. However, Quicksilver could launch Tally-Hawk from the large red cannon mounted to his left arm.
A sealed copy of this figure was listed on eBay in 2023. The card itself was in bad condition, with significant warping and some wear in the bottom left corner. Despite this, the item was still deemed incredibly valuable, as the figure sold on May 01, 2023, for a total of $2,400.00. It’s safe to say that this Quicksilver with Ultrasonic Suit figure is the crown jewel of the top 10 expensive SilverHawks toys for the foreseeable future!

Bio: I am the founder and owner of Wheeljack’s Lab Pop Culture and Toy Shop. My vision has always been to reunite customers with their favorite childhood toys and pop culture, triggering fond memories, and reigniting their imaginations. Every day, I work in the “lab” where it’s Christmas 365 days a year. I scour the internet, like when we had the Sears Catalog of yesteryear, for the next great treasure. Then, I await the arrival of the postman as if he were Santa Claus himself and helping collectors worldwide with their versions of Christmas. Every day as a vintage toy buyer is an absolute joy!
