1984 Coleco Toy Fair Catalog

1984 Coleco Toy Fair Catalog

Even though Coleco struck it huge with Cabbage Patch Kids in 1983, the company remained relatively small. Thus, the 1984 Toy Fair Catalog from Coleco was a short read. While it strongly featured the dolls, which were still top sellers in stores, the catalog mostly featured licensed products. Likewise, their video games production had hit rocky times as the crash of 1983 hit them hard. So, this was one of the last years that the Colecovision remained on store shelves.

This catalog featured multiple ride-on vehicles which proudly promoted various licensed products. So, readers could find a power wheel that resembled General Lee from The Dukes of Hazzard on one page and then a Big Bird power wheel on the next. They also created several G.I. Joe cycles and pedaled vehicles.

Wheeljack’s Lab proudly presents high-definition scans of the 1984 Coleco Toy Fair Catalog featuring licensed G.I. Joe and other toys.

About Our Coleco Toy Fair Catalog Scans

To promote their upcoming slate of products, Coleco handed out catalogs to toy fair and other event attendees like dealers and retailers. Each catalog was filled with information about their newest toys, even ones still in development. Thus, they were often provided the first looks at action figures, playsets, vehicles, and more from their lines. Thus, they have become valuable and rare collector’s items.

These Coleco Toy Fair Catalogs featured toys from their beloved lines. For instance, the Sectaurs, who combined insects with superheroes, appeared in multiple catalogs. Likewise, Coleco produced and promoted the Rambo toy line, which focused on the cartoon series. There were also many vehicles and toys from the Starcom toy line.

Coleco used in-production prototypes in their images as these catalogs were prepared before the lines were released. This meant that the featured toys often differed from the retail releases. Moreover, toys sometimes appeared only in these catalog pages, as they were canceled or never hit retail store shelves.

While Coleco only handed these booklets out to trade professionals, we have now made them available to all. You can explore the toys featured in these catalogs with our Coleco Toy Fair Catalog Scans. This is a rare treat since catalogs like these have become increasingly difficult to locate with each passing year.
