Join us on a journey through the 1982 Kenner Toy Fair Catalog, which offered a first look at Kenner’s latest toys. For instance, readers had the chance to examine the latest Star Wars Micro Collection Playsets and Indiana Jones action figures.
The 1982 Kenner Toy Fair Catalog featured multiple pages that advertised the selection of Star Wars action figures and vehicles. When George Lucas sought out a toy company to create merchandise for his space saga, most companies turned him down. However, Kenner decided to accept the six-month timeline to create the Star Wars toys. Despite gambling with an Early Bird Certificate Package, Star Wars became the top-selling toy line for years to come.

Here, Kenner promoted No. 39190, Collector’s Case for 24 Star Wars Action Figures. This combination collector’s carrying case and display stand held up to 24 action figures. It also included two removable trays that hold action figures. Then, fans could turn them over to find pegs that held the figures in action poses. Meanwhile, the front of the case had a poster-like cover that showed exciting scenes from Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back. The Star Wars Collector’s Case included a photograph of all 48 action figures plus a pressure-sensitive label sheet to identify the action figures’ “homes”.
Then, there was the Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back Darth Vader Collector’s Case. This highly detailed sculpture of the classic Star Wars villain, Darth Vader, held up to 31 action figures. Standing at 15 ¾” high, this collector’s case also came with a four-color photograph of all 48 Star Wars action figures. Furthermore, it included a sheet of self-sticking labels with each figure’s name so fans could personalize each compartment. There was also a chamber to store action figure accessories. Then, the case snapped shut while the hidden handle in the bade made it a carry case.

About Our Kenner Toy Fair Catalog Scans
Kenner handed out catalogs to attendees of toy fairs and other events to promote their upcoming slate of products. Each catalog was filled with information about their newest toys, even ones still in development. Thus, they often provided the first looks at action figures, playsets, vehicles, and more from their lines. Therefore, they have become valuable and rare collector’s items.
These Kenner Toy Fair Catalogs featured toys from their beloved lines. For instance, their ground-breaking Star Wars toy line often appeared in these catalogs. Kenner also gave players the chance to live out superhero fantasies with the Super Powers action figures. Another of their beloved lines, M.A.S.K., also were featured in multiple catalogs. There were also other action figure lines like Centurions.
Kenner used in-production prototypes in their images, as these catalogs were prepared before the lines were released. This meant that the featured toys often differed from the retail releases. Moreover, toys sometimes appeared only on these catalog pages, as they were canceled or never hit retail store shelves.
While Kenner only handed these booklets out to trade professionals, we have now made them available to all. You can explore the toys featured in these catalogs with our Kenner Toy Fair Catalog Scans. This is a rare treat since catalogs like these have become increasingly difficult to locate with each passing year.
