The Street Sharks Animated Series

The toy giant Mattel manufactured the original Street Sharks action figures in 1994. An animated series of the same name promoted these action figures. Produced by DIC Productions, L.P., and Bohbot Entertainment, the Street Sharks animated series aired from 1994 to 1997, diving into the adventurous lives of half-shark/half-man characters.

The Plot

The intriguing plot was anything but shallow. University professor Dr. Robert Bolton and his partner Dr. Luther Paradigm created a revolutionary machine called the “gene-slammer,” capable of transforming aquatic animals into anthropomorphic hybrids through DNA combination. When Bolton tried to stop Paradigm from using the device for personal gain, he became a monster. Meanwhile, Paradigm converted Bolton’s sons John, Bobby, Coop, and Clint into the titular “Street Sharks.”

The Street Sharks action figures were as diverse as the ocean’s ecosystem. Each release offered unique characters with distinct fighting action from Series 1 to Series 5, including the exciting Night Fighters edition.

Both heroes and villains came with their specific fighting actions, providing endless play possibilities for children of all ages. And, of course, lots of accessories were included, enhancing the play experience even further.

Bio: I am the founder and owner of Wheeljack’s Lab pop Culture and Toy Shop. My vision has always been to reunite customers with their favorite childhood toys and pop culture, triggering fond memories, and reigniting their imaginations. Every day, I work in the “lab” where it’s Christmas 365 days a year. I scour the internet, like when we had the Sears Catalog of yesteryear, for the next great treasure. Then, I await the arrival of the postman as if he were Santa Claus himself and helping collectors worldwide with their versions of Christmas. Every day as a vintage toy buyer is an absolute joy!
