When Were the First Earth Force Action Figures Made?

Introduction

One of the rarest and least known toy lines from the 1980s is the Earth Force by Pace Toys. Pace Toys was a tiny toy line, and they only made a few of these action figures. These action figures are difficult to find in the market but even harder to find with their accessories. However, despite their rarity, the line is not well known. Because of this, collectors can sometimes find these action figures for a low price. For vintage toy collectors, one of the most critical pieces of information about a toy line is the year it was made. The year of release can provide insight into the context of the line’s conception. So, without further ado, let’s explore the background of the first Earth Force action figures!

The First Earth Force Action Figures

Pace Toys made the first Earth Force action figures in 1985, and the line ended a year later in 1986. The manufacturers designed the toys to complement famous lines such as He-Man. The action figures were at a 5 ½” to 6” scale. There was articulation at the head, arms, and legs. The line was split into teams, each member having similarly colored accessories. Interestingly, Pace Toys did not create a group of villains, even though it was a popular trend during this era.

Earth Force Series 1: 1985

In the initial series, the Earth Force was split into three teams: the Cyborg Team, the Ground Team, and the Flight Team. The Cyborg Team consisted of Cherokee and Lazar. Professor “Hacksaw” Hackett and Colonel “Hammer” Jackson were the Ground Team members. Lastly, the Flight Team consisted of Major “Blaster” Barton and Commander “Comet” Kelley.

Earth Force Series 2: 1986

The second Earth Force series, released in 1986, consisted of two teams instead of three. The teams were the Explorer Team and the Star Ranger. The Explorer Team had Doctor “Red” Roger Wolf, Professor “Atom” Orden Atom, and Doctor “Bronco” Hank Tago. The Star Rangers were Colonel “Neut” Ned E. Utron, Captain Don “Doppler” Opper, and Major Bart “Backfire” Nigel.

The Earth Force Legacy Lives On

Earth Force action figures may have debuted over three decades ago, but their appeal has not diminished. Today, they command a dedicated fan base of vintage toy enthusiasts and collectors who cherish them for their quality, detailed design, and the nostalgia they evoke. These action figures are more than mere toys; they are artifacts of a cherished era, forever preserving our collective childhood memories.

In conclusion, the Earth Force action figures, first launched in the mid-80s, offer an intriguing peek into the evolution of the toy industry. They continue to hold a special place in the hearts of many, reminding us of the simple joy of childhood play. As we continue to trade these vintage marvels, we ensure that the legacy of Earth Force and the stories they tell will endure for future generations.

Bio: I am the founder and owner of Wheeljack’s Lab pop Culture and Toy Shop. My vision has always been to reunite customers with their favorite childhood toys and pop culture, triggering fond memories, and reigniting their imaginations. Every day, I work in the “lab” where it’s Christmas 365 days a year. I scour the internet, like when we had the Sears Catalog of yesteryear, for the next great treasure. Then, I await the arrival of the postman as if he were Santa Claus himself and helping collectors worldwide with their versions of Christmas. Every day as a vintage toy buyer is an absolute joy!
