The Most Valuable Complete TMNT Toys

The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (often abbreviated as “TMNT”) franchise spawned from comics published by Mirage Studios. Two main pillars of the franchise, the cartoons and the toys, were first spawned alongside each other. The original 1988-1997 toy line was produced by Playmates Toys. The TMNT line featured a plethora of different iterations of figures, dressed in unique garb befitting to the various themes the line explored. With such an expansive array of toys, some unique figures have rightfully earned their spots as the most valuable TMNT toys.

Arguably the most notable feature of the TMNT toy line was its incredibly large cast of unique and costumed characters. From the likes of Slash to King Lionheart, there were enough characters to create a mighty team of heroes or a menacing gang of villains. Fans of a specific turtle were also able to develop their collection with time, as dozens of versions of the main four turtles were released over the lifespan of the line. The turtles were released in anything from birthday wear to sports uniforms.

Resulting from the line’s immense popularity, original Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles toys retain a great appeal among collectors. Among these toys, certain figures have become much more valuable than others due to their rarity.

From minor color shade changes to the Chef Boyardee black armor and European purple armor variant, this villainous leader could be enjoyed in a variety of ways. The Purple Armor Super Shredder figure featured bright light blue weapons, which when considered with his armor color, makes this action figure a beautifully gaudy piece. The mutated Shredder wore bulky armor and spikes, reflective of his heightened power and fury.

In late 2022, the owner of one of these elusive European toys placed their copy onto eBay. The purple armor was discolored and there was minor damage on the right arm of the figure. Despite this, an eager fan purchased the figure on November 20, 2022, for $2,899.00.
