The 1982 Kenner Toy Fair Catalog celebrated the success of their licensed properties, such as Star Wars and Indiana Jones. After obtaining unprecedented success with the Star Wars action figures in 1977, Kenner became the toy company to watch during the 1980s. Despite controlling the most popular toy brand then, Kenner remained a small company, so it focused on only a few toy lines.
This was clearly seen in the 1982 Kenner Toy Fair Catalog. While this catalog was over a hundred pages long, it only covered a few different toy lines. Instead, Kenner provided detailed information on their toy lines. For instance, both Play-Doh and Power Movers received dozens of pages of content combined.
Most importantly, this catalog displayed the newest products for the Star Wars and Indiana Jones toy lines. While The Empire Strikes Back hit theaters two years ago, Star Wars fans still anxiously awaited Kenner’s next sets of figures. Moreover, Kenner introduced several Micro Collection playsets to their Star Wars toy line.
Meanwhile, Indiana Jones in the Raiders of the Lost Ark hit theaters in 1981. Thus, Kenner hoped to make another hit with their line of Indiana Jones toys. Even though the toy line failed in the stores, these pages displayed Kenner’s excitement toward the line.

About Our Kenner Catalog Scans
Kenner handed out catalogs to attendees of toy fairs and other events to promote their upcoming slate of products. Each catalog was filled with information about their newest toys, even ones still in development. Thus, they often provided the first looks at action figures, playsets, vehicles, and more from their lines. Therefore, they have become valuable and rare collector’s items.
These Kenner Toy Fair Catalogs featured toys from their beloved lines. For instance, their ground-breaking Star Wars toy line often appeared in these catalogs. Kenner also gave players the chance to live out superhero fantasies with the Super Powers action figures. Another of their beloved lines, M.A.S.K., also were featured in multiple catalogs. There were also other action figure lines like Centurions.
Kenner used in-production prototypes in their images, as these catalogs were prepared before the lines were released. This meant that the featured toys often differed from the retail releases. Moreover, toys sometimes appeared only on these catalog pages, as they were canceled or never hit retail store shelves.
While Kenner only handed these booklets out to trade professionals, we have now made them available to all. You can explore the toys featured in these catalogs with our Kenner Toy Fair Catalog Scans. This is a rare treat since catalogs like these have become increasingly difficult to locate with each passing year.
