The 1982 Kenner Toy Fair Catalog advertised the selection of Indiana Jones: Raiders of the Lost Ark action figures, vehicles, and playsets. After George Lucas’s Star Wars gained Kenner tremendous success, they were happy to team up with him again for his newest franchise, Indiana Jones. Thus, Kenner introduced their latest smash hit, The Adventures of Indiana Jones, which featured the only movie at the time, Raiders of the Lost Ark. Thus, one of the greatest collaborations in toy and movie history now brought one of the greatest heroes of all time.

Here, Kenner presented From the Raiders of the Lost Ark Collection, The Map Room Adventure Pack with Indiana Jones Action Figure in Arab Disguise. This set allowed players to recreate Indiana Jones’s adventures in his search for the Lost Ark. Fans could relive the moment in the Map Room when Indiana Jones discovered where the Ark was buried.

With the evil Toht not far behind, it became a race to the finish to see who could decipher the message from the Staff of Ra. Would it be Indy, who possessed the real Staff or Toht who had it burned into his palm? Then, what secret would the gold medallion reveal, hidden so long ago on The Map Room floor? Only Indiana Jones’ little book and time would tell.

The Map Room included Indiana Jones in Arab disguise. He came with a fast-draw action arm, a fabric robe, a gun, and a shoulder bag. He also was articulated at the knees, hips, shoulders, and neck. Moreover, this set included a molded Map Room floor, Staff of Ra with its gold medallion, which allowed fans to actually “see” the Ark’s secret location, a rope, a hood, a book, a tripod with transit, and a pick. While this set included the Indiana Jones in Arab disguise figure, all other action figures were sold separately.

About Our Kenner Toy Fair Catalog Scans

Kenner handed out catalogs to attendees of toy fairs and other events to promote their upcoming slate of products. Each catalog was filled with information about their newest toys, even ones still in development. Thus, they often provided the first looks at action figures, playsets, vehicles, and more from their lines. Therefore, they have become valuable and rare collector’s items.

These Kenner Toy Fair Catalogs featured toys from their beloved lines. For instance, their ground-breaking Star Wars toy line often appeared in these catalogs. Kenner also gave players the chance to live out superhero fantasies with the Super Powers action figures. Another of their beloved lines, M.A.S.K., also were featured in multiple catalogs. There were also other action figure lines like Centurions.

Kenner used in-production prototypes in their images, as these catalogs were prepared before the lines were released. This meant that the featured toys often differed from the retail releases. Moreover, toys sometimes appeared only on these catalog pages, as they were canceled or never hit retail store shelves.

While Kenner only handed these booklets out to trade professionals, we have now made them available to all. You can explore the toys featured in these catalogs with our Kenner Toy Fair Catalog Scans. This is a rare treat since catalogs like these have become increasingly difficult to locate with each passing year.
