To reinvigorate interest in the Transformers brand, Hasbro launched the G2 series in 1993. Many of these toys featured recolors of the prior G1 toys. However, some notable characters underwent significant revisions in the second generation. Rather than remaining as a gun, Hasbro released a tank version of Megatron for G2. While this toy line was not a huge success, it is still looked back on with some fondness by fans today.
