As BotCon grew to be the most important convention for Transformers fans, they began to release exclusives like toys for each year. For the most part, their exclusives were repaints of previous Transformers toys released by Fun Publications. Interestingly, BotCon featured so-called “customization class” figures: unpainted and unassembled copies of certain figures, with attendees painting and/or applying stickers to the figure to create a desired character. Typically, attendees who completed their figure during the convention received a semi-official exclusive accessory for the figure. One of the most notable figures from this class is the Combiner Wars Ratchet figure, which included stickers to create cartoon G1, Marvel Comics G1, G2, or Shattered Glass Ratchet, or a new Medix character. BotCon also featured exclusive comic stories to supplement their yearly figures.
