LEGO began in the 1930s when a Danish carpenter, Ole Kirk Christiansen, started a toy-making workshop in Billund, Denmark. However, things took off for the company in the 1950s, when they began creating a unique plastic brick, the automatic binding bricks. By the late 1950s, the company had patented their idea so that their bricks would become world-renown.
