Join us on a journey through the 1986 Kenner Toy Fair Catalog, which offered a first look at Kenner’s latest toys. For instance, readers had the chance to view the Star Wars Droids and M.A.S.K. toys.
The 1986 Kenner Toy Fair Catalog highlighted the various action figures and vehicles from the M.A.S.K. (Mobile Armored Strike Command) line. While Kenner put its name on the map with licensed toys like Star Wars, M.A.S.K. allowed it to create a unique product. This line featured human drivers who came with their associated transforming vehicles. Meanwhile, the members of M.A.S.K. fought against the evil forces of V.E.N.O.M. (Vicious Evil Network of Mayhem).

This 1986 Kenner Toy Fair Catalog page promoted the Boulder Hill Playset, an innocent service station that became an awesome, battle-ready bunker. The BOULDER HILL service station was always ready for action because it was really a MASK strategic headquarters loaded with hidden play features.
If VENOM attacked, the mechanic’s bay swung out to become an armored bunker wall. The station sign dropped to reveal dual holographic stun cannons and a computer radar tracking screen. Furthermore, the front of the station dropped down to become a fortified pill box with a “wide-fire” anti-gravity howitzer.
As VENOM approached, the gas pumps became freeze rays that swiveled with a clicking sound. If reinforcements were needed, a MASK vehicle could be dispatched through the break-apart wall to get help. Even if a VENOM agent was up on the roof, MASK was ready and waiting. So, he fell right through the hidden trapdoor and into the detention cell.
MASK was ready for air attack too. For instance, it launched its landslide boulder to reveal its rotating anti-aircraft turret. The playset also came with two diagnostic cables that hooked up to MASK vehicles for maintenance. The detention center was also a computer command panel. BOULDER HILL even had a helicopter pad on the roof for quick landings.

About Our Kenner Toy Fair Catalog Scans
Kenner handed out catalogs to attendees of toy fairs and other events to promote their upcoming slate of products. Each catalog was filled with information about their newest toys, even ones still in development. Thus, they often provided the first looks at action figures, playsets, vehicles, and more from their lines. Therefore, they have become valuable and rare collector’s items.
These Kenner Toy Fair Catalogs featured toys from their beloved lines. For instance, their ground-breaking Star Wars toy line often appeared in these catalogs. Kenner also gave players the chance to live out superhero fantasies with the Super Powers action figures. Another of their beloved lines, M.A.S.K., also were featured in multiple catalogs. There were also other action figure lines like Centurions.
Kenner used in-production prototypes in their images, as these catalogs were prepared before the lines were released. This meant that the featured toys often differed from the retail releases. Moreover, toys sometimes appeared only on these catalog pages, as they were canceled or never hit retail store shelves.
While Kenner only handed these booklets out to trade professionals, we have now made them available to all. You can explore the toys featured in these catalogs with our Kenner Toy Fair Catalog Scans. This is a rare treat since catalogs like these have become increasingly difficult to locate with each passing year.
