1986 Coleco Rambo Toy Fair Catalog – Rambo

Explore the pages of the rare 1986 Coleco Rambo Toy Fair Catalog with our high-definition scans. This catalog focused on the new toy line for 1986: Rambo. However, there were also clues to the plans for other toy lines like Sectaurs.

New for the 1986 line-up, Coleco presented the toys based on the smash-hit movie, Rambo, in this Toy Fair Catalog. While audiences first met Rambo in the 1985 movie, he was set to hit toy shelves in 1986. Since the movie had been R-rated, Coleco opted to concentrate on the new cartoon series that would appeal to younger viewers. So, these toys featured characters from the Force of Freedom and S.A.V.A.G.E.

This 1986 Coleco Rambo Toy Fair Catalog page detailed the information on a vehicle, the S.A.V.A.G.E. Strike Cycle. Its original design enabled the rider to cruise through crowded city streets. Then, its specialized weaponry allowed the rider to fire and pursue simultaneously. This cycle had a concealed G.E. mini-gun, MAC-10 submachine guns, and 6 Belgian grenades. It also featured a heads-up display that acted like a computerized scope and high-tech instrumentation.

The S.A.V.A.G.E STRIKE CYCLE was originally designed by Eddie ’TURBO” Hayes to be used by RAMBO on a special mission. It was a product of TURBO’S ingenuity and attention to detail. After RAMBO’s successful mission, the FORCE OF FREEDOM’S vehicle storage area was raided. The only vehicle taken was the cycle. So, RAMBO knew at once that the crime was the work of MAD DOG.

How could a convicted motorcycle thief resist such a piece of mechanical genius? Since then, the S.A.V.A.G.E. STRIKE CYCLE became the meanest motorcycle on the streets. No one was safe in the city when this road demon burned rubber, especially when MAD DOG popped the G.E. Mini-gun out of the hidden doors.

About Our Coleco Toy Fair Catalog Scans

To promote their upcoming slate of products, Coleco handed out catalogs to toy fair and other event attendees like dealers and retailers. Each catalog was filled with information about their newest toys, even ones still in development. Thus, they were often provided the first looks at action figures, playsets, vehicles, and more from their lines. Thus, they have become valuable and rare collector’s items.

These Coleco Toy Fair Catalogs featured toys from their beloved lines. For instance, the Sectaurs, who combined insects with superheroes, appeared in multiple catalogs. Likewise, Coleco produced and promoted the Rambo toy line, which focused on the cartoon series. There were also many vehicles and toys from the Starcom toy line.

Coleco used in-production prototypes in their images as these catalogs were prepared before the lines were released. This meant that the featured toys often differed from the retail releases. Moreover, toys sometimes appeared only in these catalog pages, as they were canceled or never hit retail store shelves.

While Coleco only handed these booklets out to trade professionals, we have now made them available to all. You can explore the toys featured in these catalogs with our Coleco Toy Fair Catalog Scans. This is a rare treat since catalogs like these have become increasingly difficult to locate with each passing year.
