Introduction
In the 1980s, He-Man was the king of the toy industry. Many small toy manufacturers in this era attempted to create toys that resembled this line. True fans would be able to spot a cheap knock-off, but many parents or unaware customers would grab the cheap toys for a gift. Soma kept this in mind when they manufactured the first Fantasy World action figures.
The First Fantasy World Action Figures
The creation of the first Fantasy World action figures dates back to 1983. Interestingly, Soma did not create a basic storyline for this toy line. They just placed eight action figures with a barbarian fantasy style. There was no cartoon or comics to help market the line. There were no basic plots or bios on the back of the cards, either.
The Fantasy World Characters
All eight of the action figures shared similar appearances and sculpts. There was a human warrior Fanstar, that resembled a Roman soldier. Then, there was the blue-skinned Hellord, who had a shield shaped like a cat’s head. Next, there was Herocon, who simply had a sword and a round shield. Then, there was the slate-skinned Ironmask, who had a shield shaped like a cat’s head as well as a trident. Tirkin, a third human character, wore more armor than Herson. He also had a round shield and a mace hammer. The green-skinned Dragonman came with a spear and a demon-faced shield. There was the dark-blue-skinned Nizard with a flamberge sword and a demon-faced shield. Finally, there was Piro, a beast-man with a short axe and a demon-faced shield.
Conclusion
Despite the fact that Soma’s Fantasy World somewhat lacks originality, there are still collectors and fans of this toy line. There are few collectors who are even aware of this line’s creation. Nonetheless, Fantasy World is still loved and appreciated by many.

Bio: I am the founder and owner of Wheeljack’s Lab pop Culture and Toy Shop. My vision has always been to reunite customers with their favorite childhood toys and pop culture, triggering fond memories, and reigniting their imaginations. Every day, I work in the “lab” where it’s Christmas 365 days a year. I scour the internet, like when we had the Sears Catalog of yesteryear, for the next great treasure. Then, I await the arrival of the postman as if he were Santa Claus himself and helping collectors worldwide with their versions of Christmas. Every day as a vintage toy buyer is an absolute joy!
