We recently received a collection of vintage Tonka Rock Lords prototypes, pre-production toys, and memorabilia from a former Tonka Executive! The collection included some Rock Lords – this is just a sample, not all are shown. The collection included pre-production mock-ups, hardcopies, first shots, test shots, engineering pilots, unproduced & unreleased prototype toys & MORE!

They include a Crawfish (named by my son Clawchopper), Iguana (Ignacious), Praying Mantis (Manslaughter), and an Anteater (Antinator). These are very likely the only ones in existence. Also, got what amounts to a mountain of bagged samples. Wish I had taken a picture!

About Tonka Rock Lords Action Figure Toys
Rock Lords are an offshoot from the GoBots toy line. Rock Lords was released in 1986. They are transforming powerful rocks. Consisting of several sub-lines: basic, Narlies, Jewel, Fossil, Shock Rocks, and vehicles. Like GoBots the Rock Lords were licensed from Bandai’s Machine Robo line of toys. Divided into two factions the good guys led by Boulder and bad guys led by Magmar. While successful, like their cousin GoBots they only lasted for three series. Do I have the Stone Head playset? Sadly no.

Bio: I am the founder and owner of Wheeljack’s Lab pop Culture and Toy Shop. My vision has always been to reunite customers with their favorite childhood toys and pop culture, triggering fond memories, and reigniting their imaginations. Every day, I work in the “lab” where it’s Christmas 365 days a year. I scour the internet, like when we had the Sears Catalog of yesteryear, for the next great treasure. Then, I await the arrival of the postman as if he were Santa Claus himself and helping collectors worldwide with their own versions of Christmas. Every day as a vintage toy buyer is an absolute joy!
