Jurassic Park is a unique science fiction movie franchise centered on dinosaurs, their confrontations with humans, and the quest to capture them for scientific inquiries. In Jurassic World, which was the fourth movie of the franchise, the dinosaurs took on both the protagonist and antagonist roles. With these roles, some dinosaurs became fans’ favorite for their fighting prowess or their relations with humans, while others are the equivalent of supervillains.
Jurassic Park was successful in bringing dinosaurs to life on the silver screen, a grand effort of the original franchise, which Steven Spielberg directed. The designs are also notable creations of Stan Winston who previously designed both the Predators and Xenomorphs.
Here are the top ten dinosaurs from the Jurassic Park movie franchise.
10. Allosaurus
The Allosaurus is a vicious group of dinosaurs that are extremely violent and aggressive. It uses its blade-like teeth in hacking its victims. Although the Allosaurus hunts in groups, it does not automatically signify strength as the Allosauruses perished despite their numbers in the movie.
The Allosaurus was part of the creatures that trappers shipped off and auctioned in Jurassic World. After the auction, the buyer took off with the Allosaurus.
With all its viciousness, Allosauruses are more brutal against weak oppositions and humans while more powerful creatures often subdued them.
9. Ankylosaurus
Ankylosaurus is a massive dinosaur with a heavily armed body. The bodies feature bony plates, even its eyelids and tail also have armor. Ankylosaurus earned the name “living tank” in the Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom. These heavily armored dinosaurs grew up in captivity on Isla Sorna until InGen abandoned the facility following the events of the first film. From there, the Ankylosaurus began wandering in the wild until a revitalized Jurassic World shipped them to Isla Nublar as new attractions.
As armored as the Ankylosaurus, several weaknesses hinder its appearance on the top of this list. Its strong muscular tails were quite a disadvantage as the creature could not swing them beyond 45 degrees of any direction. Besides, the creatures are very slow in the face of danger, but their defensive bodies often compensated for their speed. Also, despite their armor, the underside, including its belly, is fragile and unprotected. This means predators may easily attack them if they manage to flip over an Ankylosaurus. However, when on their four legs, they are almost immune to attacks from flying dinosaurs.
8. Carnotaurus
Carnotaurus is a frightening carnivorous creature. The dinosaurs appeared like smaller Tyrannosaurus Rex, but they had shorter arms, and they do not have the strength of a Tyrannosaurus Rex. However, these creatures have many sharp teeth and horns, which they use against smaller creatures and hold their ground against bigger creatures.
In Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom, these creatures were cowards who the Tyrannosaurus Rex bullied.
A particular Carnotaurus also proved to be very brutal while the creatures that Jurassic World advertised for attraction. The park housed it separately, away from the main attractions.
Carnotauruses are faster than Ankylosauruses but also have trouble coping with the pace of preys that are aware of their presence. In making up for their lack of speed, Carnotauruses adopt a chameleon-like pretense, making them perfect ambush predators.
These creatures had small skulls which also make it difficult for them to attack large plant-eaters.
7. Brachiosaurus
Being one of the tallest dinosaurs, the brachiosaurus has a strange upper arm bone which is extremely tall. With a height of about 13 meters, the brachiosaurus was one of the tallest dinosaurs, but it is not the tallest.
Unlike most dinosaurs, the brachiosaurus was completely harmless to humans. In the first sequel, after the disabling of Isla Nublar’s security gird, Brachiosaurus was one of the creatures that escaped. However, there was a particular scene in the movie where Dr. Grant and the children fed a Brachiosaurus, a scene that portrayed the creatures as human-friendly and harmless.
Brachiosaurus also appeared on other sequels of the movie though they remained extremely fragile with low defensive mechanisms. The creatures are herbivores, and the Indominus Rex even killed one of them.
6. Dilophosaurus
In Richard Kiley’s words, “Dilophosaurus is one of the earliest carnivores. We now know that Dilophosaurus is actually poisonous, spitting its venom at its prey, causing blindness and eventually paralysis, allowing the carnivore to eat at its leisure. This makes Dilophosaurus a beautiful but deadly addition to Jurassic Park.”
Dilophosauruses do not have forward-facing eyes, making them rely explicitly on their keen sense of smell in hunting. They use their long teeth and strong arms to grab their prey. Dilophosauruses are very fast, and they hunt in groups which makes them stronger.
The Dilophosauruses was also the creature that served justice to Denis Nedry, the employee who tried stealing tried to steal the dinosaur embryos for a rival company. The incident which took place in the Isla Nublar was the first appearance of the creatures in Jurassic Park. The creature spits its venom in the face of the employee who covered his body with his suits. However, it soon followed him to the car where it finally devoured him.
5. Indoraptor
Indoraptor is a special breed of fierce creatures that Dr. Henry Wu created. Although Dr. Wu created the dinosaur to attack, this creature does not understand the orders. Rather, it responded to visual and audio frequency. Being a weapon built for warfare, the Indoraptor can strike at any time of the day as it has a night vision which enables it to find its prey irrespective of the time of the day and distance.
At the auction in the Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom, the Indoraptor received large bids before the event turned around and it broke loose. While he killed multiple people, in the end, Blue and Owen Grady managed to kill the creature.
4. Indominus Rex
If you were looking for some fiery-looking dinosaurs, Indominus Rex tops the list. The creature was a hybrid of other dinosaurs ranked above it on this list. Dr. Henry Wu created this genetic monstrosity both for the park’s attractions and military purposes, a feature he kept to himself.
The physical shape of the Indominus Rex reflected the varied species used in its formation. The dinosaur had the bite force of Tyrannosaurus, the crocodile-like teeth of Deinosuchus, the huge size of Giganotosarius, and the high-level intelligence of Velociraptor. The Indominus Rex consumed dinosaurs of its nature and took part in a lot of brutal activities.
The creation was the villain in Jurassic World, and it was almost impeccable with no observable flaws.
3. Velociraptors
Velociraptors are a special breed of dinosaurs. The dinosaurs are the most intelligent group of dinosaurs in the movie. They hunt in packs with advanced methods of communication and the ability to set traps.
These huge creatures were the first dinosaurs to appear in Jurassic Park. Beyond that, they were also the major obstruction to the escape plan of humans away from the Isla Nublar. The Velociraptors have also featured in all the sequels of Jurassic Park, and they even had special names like Blue, Charlie, Echo, and so on.
The Velociraptors also helped in hunting down Indominus Rex, and they were a constant threat to humans.
2. Mosasaurus
There is no perfect word to describe a dinosaur that easily feeds on sharks and large fishes. Mosasaurus is a large ocean dinosaur. The creature has an unmatched bite force that slightly exceeds that of Tyrannosaurus Rex.
The very powerful aquatic dinosaur was in full force when it consumed the scientists who presumed it may be dead when they came to obtain the DNA of the Indominus Rex. The large dinosaur will feature again in the upcoming sequel of Jurassic World, Dominion.
1. Tyrannosaurus Rex
The role of Tyrannosaurus Rex was regularly switching between a supervillain, an anti-hero, and a heroine. T. Rex as popularly referred was the largest carnivore among the dinosaurs. It is not the biggest or tallest, but its fiery look and a fear-imposing figure were simply awesome to watch.
The dinosaur is popularly known for feeding upon any prey that crosses its path and keeping strangers off their territory. Despite its imposing figure, there were scenes in the movie where it appeared without its sound or sight.
Coupled with the strength of Tyrannosaurus was its rare form of intelligence which was not a common attribute of other dinosaurs. The unique creature even showed an ability to acknowledge the aid of other dinosaurs that came to its help. Its battle with Indominus Rex became easier by the intervention of a Velociraptor called Blue. Tyrannosaurus has also grown along with several sequels of the movie. Its muscular shape seems to have reduced with each sequel. Also, the marks received during the lengthy battle with Velociraptors in the original sequel seem to have appeared as the symbols of identification for Tyrannosaurus in the following sequels.
Tyrannosaurus was a danger in the first sequel in 1993. Following the deactivation of the electric fence by the employee who wanted to steal the dinosaur embryo, Tyrannosaurus announced itself by immediately consuming the goat which was meant to lure it. Its triumphant roar preceded a serious hunt for humans.

In “Blast From the Past” the Autobots visit a dinosaur-themed amusement park where animatronic dinosaurs are on display, but Bulkhead accidentally breaks them. Professor Sumdac and Megatron rebuild the animatronic dinosaurs as technological wonders named the Dinobots, who go on a rampage under the Deception’s influence until the attacks powered Sari’s AllSpark key affecting Bumblebee and Ratchet’s Electromagnetic blast against the Dinobots by making them conscious. Finding a way to control them, Megatron told Grimlock to attack the city by telling the Dinobots they are “fossil feeders” due to the way Earth vehicles are powered and that the Autobots are even worse. The Dinobots are lured away by the Autobots, with Prowl secretly placing them at the later named Dinobot Island in hopes that they’ll live in peace. However, while expressing his rage at two birds defecating on him, Grimlock accidentally transforms to robot mode and finds his new form to his liking. In a TFA short, “Bulkhead Plays with Grimlock”, Bulkhead throws a tree for no reason. Then Grimlock catches it with his mouth, and brings it back to Bulkhead. Grimlock states he loves fetch and asks to play again. Apparently this is a contradiction to “Human Error Part 2” where he criticized Snarl for willing to become a pet to Scrapper.
