Throughout the 1980s, Coleco was a small but notable toy company that made several memorable toys. Most notably, the company created the Cabbage Patch Kids which took the toy aisle by storm when they were introduced in 1983. Coleco also built a following with the video game console, ColecoVision. Both of these products appeared prominently in the 1985 Toy Fair Catalog.
However, Coleco could not rely solely on these two products to keep afloat. So, this catalog also featured multiple licensed products. The company also introduced a brand new toy line in 1985, the Sectaurs, which introduced players to imaginative insect warriors.
Even though the ColecoVision appeared in this catalog, this would be the last year that Coleco promoted the system. For, by the end of the year, they stopped producing the system and stepped down from the video game industry.
Wheeljack’s Lab proudly presents high-definition scans of the 1985 Coleco Toy Fair Catalog featuring Sectaurs and licensed toys.

About Our Coleco Toy Fair Catalog Scans
To promote their upcoming slate of products, Coleco handed out catalogs to toy fair and other event attendees like dealers and retailers. Each catalog was filled with information about their newest toys, even ones still in development. Thus, they were often provided the first looks at action figures, playsets, vehicles, and more from their lines. Thus, they have become valuable and rare collector’s items.
These Coleco Toy Fair Catalogs featured toys from their beloved lines. For instance, the Sectaurs, who combined insects with superheroes, appeared in multiple catalogs. Likewise, Coleco produced and promoted the Rambo toy line, which focused on the cartoon series. There were also many vehicles and toys from the Starcom toy line.
Coleco used in-production prototypes in their images as these catalogs were prepared before the lines were released. This meant that the featured toys often differed from the retail releases. Moreover, toys sometimes appeared only in these catalog pages, as they were canceled or never hit retail store shelves.
While Coleco only handed these booklets out to trade professionals, we have now made them available to all. You can explore the toys featured in these catalogs with our Coleco Toy Fair Catalog Scans. This is a rare treat since catalogs like these have become increasingly difficult to locate with each passing year.
