Remco based their wrestling action figure toy line on the wrestlers of the AWA. They then first released these toys in 1985. There were four different series of toys that debuted from 1985-1986. The most popular toys within the first series were: Steve Keirn & Stan Lane, Road Warrior Animal & Road Warrior Hawk, and Greg Gagne & Jim Brunzell.
