Godzilla first appeared to terrorize Japan’s shores as a manifestation of the horrors of nuclear war in 1954. However, his first toys did not begin to appear until the 1960s, nearly a decade after his first on-screen appearance. Since then, several companies have risen to create Godzilla toys, such as Bullmark, Popy, and Bandai in Japan. Meanwhile, American companies such as Mattel, Trendmasters, and Neca have also created toys of the King of the Monsters.
