In 1992, Galoob introduced the Z-Bots action figures and vehicles to their Micromachines toy line. These action figures defended the world from the evil forces of the Voids in the 22nd century. From 1992 to 1994, this toy line ran strong as Galoob released four series of vehicles. Galoob also created two playsets, the Vortexx HQ and Fang Fighter.
