Galoob continued to advertise the WCW (World Championship Wrestling) action figures on page 36 of the 1992 Toy Fair Catalog. Ted Turner founded this competitor to the WWF in 1988 after he acquired the NWA. Thus, networks owned by Turner Broadcasting System broadcasted the matches. This group featured a completely different set of wrestlers than those from the WWF, though a few appeared in both.

This 1992 Galoob Toy Fair Catalog promoted the WCW World Championship Wrestling Sound Slammin’ Action Ring, No. 2503. This was a complete championship-sound arena for WCW action figures. This big wrestling ring came complete with electronic wrestling sounds. These sounds included a Crowd Roar, Grunts and Groans, the Round Bell, and “1, 2, 3 – you’re out!” The playset featured 3-level ropes with turnbuckles and snap-on cage walls for matches with “no escape”.
Meanwhile, it had spring-action features that made figures fly into the ring. For “slam” and “rebound” moves, players need to pull back and then let go of the corner post. They could also bend and release the sign to catapult figures. Otherwise, they could use the springboard step to fling figures into the ring.
This playset could be used with all WCW action figures or any other similarly sized wrestling figures. It did not include 3 AA batteries, but it required them to function.

To promote their upcoming slate of products, Galoob handed out catalogs to attendees of toy fairs and other events. Each catalog was filled with information about their newest toys, even ones still in development. Thus, they often provided the first looks at action figures, playsets, vehicles, and more from their lines. Thus, they have become valuable and rare collector’s items.
These Galoob Toy Fair Catalogs featured toys from their beloved lines. For instance, the company took players to fantasy worlds with lines like the Infaceables and Blackstar. Then, the Defenders of the Earth featured Flash Gordon and other heroes ready to save the day. Other players could create adventures in space with the Adventures of Galaxy Rangers and Star Trek: The Next Generation toy lines. Galoob’s toys also delivered a smack-down with their WCW World Championship Wrestling line-up. The company also created a line-up of mutant aliens, the Biker Mice from Mars.
Galoob used in-production prototypes in their images, as these catalogs were prepared before the lines were released. This meant that the featured toys often differed from the retail releases. Moreover, toys sometimes appeared only on these catalog pages, as they were canceled or never hit retail store shelves.
