Page 29 of the 1988 Coleco Spring Toy Fair Catalog featured 1896, the ALF (Alien Life Form) 16” Power Cycle Ride-On. This cycle featured the wisecracking alien on the hit TV show. The front plaque displayed the lovable ALF character. Meanwhile, the detachable molded basket allowed children to take their favorite alien character along for a ride. It also had a 16” direct-drive front wheel, colorful streamers, an adjustable 3-position seat back, clicking rear wheels, and decorations from the hit cartoon series.
Next, Coleco promoted 1891, The Real Ghostbusters 16” Power Cycle Ride-On. This cycle captured the excitement and characters of The Real Ghostbusters hit cartoon series. It featured the Slimer character mounted on the handlebars and made fun “ghost” sounds. Moreover, it was styled after The Real Ghostbusters ambulance, Ecto-1. This cycle had a 16” direct-drive front wheel, an adjustable 3-position seat back, and clicking rear wheels.
Then, there was 1828, the Fastrak 16” Power Cycle Ride-On. Its sporty racing motif and “hot” colors made this cycle specifically appealing to the boys. It also featured sleek, sturdy construction and racing theme decorations. The cycle had a 16” direct-drive front wheel, an adjustable 3-position seat back, 8” wide-track rear wheels, and clicker sound when pedaled.
Finally, Coleco advertised 1851, the Free Style 16” Power Cycle Ride-On. Its pastel colors in a contemporary designer motif made this cycle idea for all young ladies on the go. It had a 16” direct-drive front wheel, an adjustable 3-position seat back, and 8” wide-track, clicking rear wheels.

About Our Coleco Toy Fair Catalog Scans
To promote their upcoming slate of products, Coleco handed out catalogs to toy fair and other event attendees like dealers and retailers. Each catalog was filled with information about their newest toys, even ones still in development. Thus, they were often provided the first looks at action figures, playsets, vehicles, and more from their lines. Thus, they have become valuable and rare collector’s items.
These Coleco Toy Fair Catalogs featured toys from their beloved lines. For instance, the Sectaurs, who combined insects with superheroes, appeared in multiple catalogs. Likewise, Coleco produced and promoted the Rambo toy line, which focused on the cartoon series. There were also many vehicles and toys from the Starcom toy line.
Coleco used in-production prototypes in their images as these catalogs were prepared before the lines were released. This meant that the featured toys often differed from the retail releases.
