As Coleco continued to produce memorable toys in 1987, they handed out this Toy Fair Catalog to dealers and vendors. As with other Catalogs, this one featured promotional material of Coleco’s line-up of toys for the year. While these toys were nearly ready to appear on store shelves, they were still in the prototype phase. So, some of the final products differed from the products that appeared on the pages of this catalog.
Coleco celebrated a new addition to their toy catalog, ALF, or the Alien Life Form. As this unique creature entertained audiences on network television, Coleco made a small line of toys that featured his likeness. These toys faithfully recreated ALF and included special features, like talking.
Otherwise, Coleco introduced readers to the world of Starcom, the U.S. Space Force. This toy line featured many futuristic space ships and other crafts. Moreover, the soldiers of Starcom had a vast selection of weapons and smaller vehicles at their disposal.
Finally, Coleco once again featured their Rambo toy line. While the hit 1985 movie was R-Rated, these toys focused on the more child-friendly cartoon show. Thus, it featured the various characters from the Force of Freedom.

About Our Coleco Toy Fair Catalog Scans
To promote their upcoming slate of products, Coleco handed out catalogs to toy fair and other event attendees like dealers and retailers. Each catalog was filled with information about their newest toys, even ones still in development. Thus, they were often provided the first looks at action figures, playsets, vehicles, and more from their lines. Thus, they have become valuable and rare collector’s items.
These Coleco Toy Fair Catalogs featured toys from their beloved lines. For instance, the Sectaurs, who combined insects with superheroes, appeared in multiple catalogs. Likewise, Coleco produced and promoted the Rambo toy line, which focused on the cartoon series. There were also many vehicles and toys from the Starcom toy line.
Coleco used in-production prototypes in their images as these catalogs were prepared before the lines were released. This meant that the featured toys often differed from the retail releases. Moreover, toys sometimes appeared only in these catalog pages, as they were canceled or never hit retail store shelves.
