Explore the pages of the rare 1986 Coleco Rambo Toy Fair Catalog with our high-definition scans. This catalog focused on the new toy line for 1986: Rambo. However, there was also clues to the plans for other toy lines like Sectaurs.
New for the 1986 line-up, Coleco presented the toys based on the smash-hit movie, Rambo, in this Toy Fair Catalog. While audiences first met Rambo in the 1985 movie, he was set to hit toy shelves in 1986. Since the movie had been R-rated, Coleco opted to concentrate on the new cartoon series that would appeal to younger viewers. So, these toys featured characters from the Force of Freedom and S.A.V.A.G.E.

This 1986 Coleco Rambo Toy Fair Catalog page promoted Black Dragon, a member of the evil S.A.V.A.G.E. team. Black Dragon had several distinguishing physical features from being 180 lbs and 6’0” tall to a tattoo on his right arm. Other than his brother, there was no Ninja alive who was as skilled at scaling sheer cliffs and traveling unnoticed at night.
Two brothers, identical twins, were taken at birth to live with mystical mountain warriors and to study their ways. They learned an ancient way of life: how to make oneself invisible, how to be silent in movement, and how to sense hidden enemies. They learned Ninjitsu and became the most awesome Ninja warriors alive.
However, who could know why BLACK DRAGON followed the path of evil by joining GENERAL WARHAWK’S S.A.V.A.G.E. Army, or why WHITE DRAGON followed the path of goodness by joining THE FORCE OF FREEDOM? Whatever the reason, the spirit of the ancient, evil Ninja assassins was with BLACK DRAGON, who used his special skills to do the General’s dirty work. WARHAWK called for BLACK DRAGON when he needed an expert in sabotage who could travel unnoticed in and out of an enemy camp.
BLACK DRAGON didn’t care that he may one day meet his twin brother in battle. Blood was thick, but the evil Ninja’s heart was black.

About Our Coleco Toy Fair Catalog Scans
To promote their upcoming slate of products, Coleco handed out catalogs to toy fair and other event attendees like dealers and retailers. Each catalog was filled with information about their newest toys, even ones still in development. Thus, they were often provided the first looks at action figures, playsets, vehicles, and more from their lines. Thus, they have become valuable and rare collector’s items.
These Coleco Toy Fair Catalogs featured toys from their beloved lines. For instance, the Sectaurs, who combined insects with superheroes, appeared in multiple catalogs. Likewise, Coleco produced and promoted the Rambo toy line, which focused on the cartoon series. There were also many vehicles and toys from the Starcom toy line.
Coleco used in-production prototypes in their images as these catalogs were prepared before the lines were released. This meant that the featured toys often differed from the retail releases. Moreover, toys sometimes appeared only in these catalog pages, as they were canceled or never hit retail store shelves.
While Coleco only handed these booklets out to trade professionals, we have now made them available to all. You can explore the toys featured in these catalogs with our Coleco Toy Fair Catalog Scans. This is a rare treat since catalogs like these have become increasingly difficult to locate with each passing year.
