The 1983 LJN Toy Fair Catalog advertised a wide range of Rough Riders vehicles with motorized 4×4 power to tackle off-roading. Beyond the Impossibles Stunt Sets, LJN also presented terrain tracks for their Rough Riders 4×4 on page 20. These playsets offered simpler tracks for their motorized 4×4 vehicles to drive through. Rather than traveling up walls, these sets challenged the vehicles with rough roads and valleys.

So, they presented #6246, the 4×4 Licensed Torture Trail Assortment. This assortment offered two powerful licensed Rough Riders 4×4 playsets. While one of the sets was themed on Magnum P.I., the other was based on Smokey and the Bandit II. Each of these action playsets featured one vehicle, a rugged “torture track,” four oil drums, and four racing flags.
Then, they promoted #6233, the Smokey and the Bandit II Rig and Trailer Set. This set featured the famous eighteen-wheeler from the hit movie.
