As with most toy companies in the 1980s, Galoob handed out promotional materials like a toy fair catalog as they traveled between trade events to promote their products. These catalogs aimed to entice dealers, retailers, and other vendors to invest in their toys and place them on their shelves. Since only trade professionals had the chance to own one of these catalogs back then, they have become treasured collectibles today.
This was no different from the 1987 Galoob Toy Fair Catalog. Readers found information on toy lines like Micro-Machines and Creeps within its pages. Notably, this catalog showed Galoob’s newest action figures, the Adventures of the Galaxy Rangers. This unique toy line combined the aesthetics of Westerns with futuristic space travel.

About Our Galoob Catalog Scans
To promote their upcoming slate of products, Galoob handed out catalogs to attendees of toy fairs and other events. Each catalog was filled with information about their newest toys, even ones still in development. Thus, they often provided the first looks at action figures, playsets, vehicles, and more from their lines. Thus, they have become valuable and rare collector’s items.
These Galoob Toy Fair Catalogs featured toys from their beloved lines. For instance, the company took players to fantasy worlds with lines like the Infaceables and Blackstar. Then, the Defenders of the Earth featured Flash Gordon and other heroes ready to save the day. Other players could create adventures in space with the Adventures of Galaxy Rangers and Star Trek: The Next Generation toy lines. Galoob’s toys also delivered a smack-down with their WCW World Championship Wrestling line-up. The company also created a line-up of mutant aliens, the Biker Mice from Mars.
Galoob used in-production prototypes in their images, as these catalogs were prepared before the lines were released. This meant that the featured toys often differed from the retail releases. Moreover, toys sometimes appeared only on these catalog pages, as they were canceled or never hit retail store shelves.
While Galoob only handed these booklets out to trade professionals, we have now made them available to all. You can explore the toys featured in these catalogs with our Galoob Toy Fair Catalog Scans. This is a rare treat since catalogs like these have become increasingly difficult to locate with each passing year.
