1983 Coleco Toy Fair Catalog
Coleco became a notable toy company to watch in the 1980s, as seen with its 1983 Toy Fair Catalog. That year, Coleco unveiled the product that became a sensation across the nation: Cabbage Patch Kids. The craze these dolls created kept the company in the green for years.
However, Coleco made more than dolls with birth certificates. They also became household names in the electronics and video game industry. Their Colecovision experienced some success in the early years of video games. While the company never reached the heights of Nintendo and Sega, it still created a notable system.
They also created several other electronic games that appeared in this catalog. For instance, Coleco made table-top versions of Arcade hits like Galaxian. They also created several electronic quizzes and learning games.
Otherwise, Coleco dedicated most of its energy to creating licensed products that helped promote the other hits of the era. They created many products for G.I. Joe, including pedaled cycles and toboggans. This catalog also included Smurfs, Dukes of Hazzard, Sesame Street, and other licensed products.

About Our Coleco Catalog Scans
To promote their upcoming slate of products, Coleco handed out catalogs to attendees of toy fairs and other events. Each catalog was filled with information about their newest toys, even ones still in development. Thus, they often provided the first looks at action figures, playsets, vehicles, and more from their lines. Therefore, they have become valuable and rare collector’s items.
These Coleco Toy Fair Catalogs featured toys from their beloved lines. For instance, the Sectaurs, who combined insects with superheroes, appeared in multiple catalogs. Likewise, Coleco produced and promoted the Rambo toy line, which focused on the cartoon series. There were also many vehicles and toys from the Starcom toy line.
Coleco used in-production prototypes in their images, as these catalogs were prepared before the lines were released. This meant that the featured toys often differed from the retail releases. Moreover, toys sometimes appeared only on these catalog pages, as they were canceled or never hit retail store shelves.
