Mego Corporation was originally known for manufacturing many series of action figure toys, such as Planet of the Apes and various superheroes. In 1976 Mego became famous for producing celebrity dolls as well. These dolls were 8 inches tall and had interchangeable bodies. The first dolls were Sonny and Cher. Farrah Fawcett, Jacklyn Smith, Diana Ross, Suzanne Somers, and Captain and Tennille. Later, Mego also released Kiss celebrity dolls.
