Even though Coleco began as a supplier for shoe repairers, their leather materials did not create their legacy. Instead, the company became huge in the 1980s with its ventures into the video game industry. While the Colecovision never matched up to the Atari, it still made its mark on history. Coleco also witnessed a giant boom in popularity after they debuted the Cabbage Patch Kids in the 1980s. They also created toys for the Rambo movies and animated series. While the company vanished for a time thanks to its 1988 bankruptcy, it reemerged in 2005 to create even more products.
