Back in 1966, Ideal Toy Corp. developed the Captain Action toy line by releasing an action figure who could swap out costumes to become famous Super Heroes. Later, in 1967, they added his younger sidekick, Action Boy, who could also wear superhero outfits to become characters like Robin. Unfortunately, the original run for Captain Action ended in 1967.
However, the toy line returned in 1998 with Playing Mantis creating the new toy line. The rebooted Captain Action lasted until 2000. Then, in 2005, Captain Action Enterprises became the holder of the licensing rights for the toys. So, they have been creating Captain Action merchandise including new toys.
