Centurions Swingshot Land Assault Weapon System (1986)

Swingshot is a rare Centurions Assault Weapon System released for Jake Rockwell, one of the original members of the Centurions team. This mid-sized armor system features a powerful backpack drive unit that powers two articulated roto-treads, allowing the figure to attach to various surfaces and recreate the toy’s “Mode 8: Antigravity” feature inspired by the animated series.

The Swingshot armor system includes forearm-mounted armored shields equipped with a Mega-Blaster and Trajectoid Missiles, along with a chest-mounted Howitzer cannon for heavy firepower. A rotating Targeting Sensor, Infrascope, and adjustable chest weapon add to its futuristic combat design.

The toy’s backpack power drive activates multiple rotating features, including the Targeting Sensor and chest shaft, while turning the chest shaft moves the mounted Howitzer. The distinctive roto-treads are based on Kégresse-style tracks, giving Swingshot a unique appearance among Centurions armor systems.

Released during the second year of the Centurions toy line, Swingshot was produced in smaller quantities than many earlier Assault Weapon Systems, making it one of the rarest and most collectible Centurions figures for vintage toy collectors.
