Fortress Maximus is one of the most iconic and largest toys from the original 1987 Transformers G1 toyline. Standing about 22 inches (56 cm) tall in robot mode, this massive Headmaster Base transforms into both a city and battle station/starship mode. Its complex design includes multiple ramps, elevators, launchers, storage areas, a radar array, cockpit, prison cell, and numerous non-firing weapons, making it a centerpiece for any vintage Transformers collection.

The Fortress Maximus toy features a unique Headmaster hierarchy: Spike becomes the head of Cerebros, while Cerebros forms Fortress Maximus's head. It also includes Gasket and Grommet, which combine into Cog, along with numerous weapons and accessories; the Japanese release added Master Swords for Fortress and Fortress Maximus. Originally one of the most expensive Transformers toys of the 1980s, Fortress Maximus remains highly sought after by G1 collectors for its enormous size, intricate play features, and importance in Transformers history.
