Centurions Sea Bat Sea Assault Weapon System (1986)

Sea Bat is a rare vintage Centurions Mid-Sized Assault Weapon System released by Kenner in 1987 for Max Ray, the team's aquatic specialist. Designed for underwater combat, Sea Bat combines a hydrofoil assembly, underwater breathing apparatus, and a winged propulsion unit to create a futuristic ocean assault vehicle.

The system features two top-mounted helical screw propellers, six Barracuda Missiles, a Heatseeking Harpoon, and a Depth Charge accessory. Interactive features include a rotating knob that activates the Bat-Wing Thruster Unit and turns the propellers, while also rotating the chest shaft of an attached Centurions figure. When connected to the Chest Hydrofoil Unit, rotating the chest shaft moves the breathing apparatus in a pumping motion.

Sea Bat is notable for several unique design details and collector curiosities, including box art inaccuracies, accessory limitations, and its unusual combination of hydrofoil technology and propeller placement. The Bat-Wing Thruster Unit also shares a similar turning mechanism with the Swingshot accessory.

As one of the few Centurions Series Two toys actually released, Sea Bat was produced in smaller quantities than many earlier Assault Weapon Systems, making it one of the rarest and most desirable Centurions collectibles. It remains highly sought after by Kenner collectors, vintage toy enthusiasts, and fans of 1980s action figures, especially complete examples with all missiles, accessories, and original packaging.
