Centurions Orbital Interceptor Air Assault Weapon System (1986)

Orbital Interceptor is a mid-sized Assault Weapon System from the Centurions toy line, designed for Ace McCloud, the team’s air and space specialist. Built for space combat and exploration, it features a fully enclosed life-support system, atmospheric thrusters, leg-mounted Particle Beam Defensors, a chest-mounted Target Sensor, rear Radar Homing Device, and a Particle Beam Missile launcher.

The Orbital Interceptor Centurions toy is designed for both outer-space and deep-sea missions, using its Particle Beam Defensors for combat, defense, and zero-gravity maneuvering. The modular set requires minor assembly, including attaching the radar unit, target sensor, and thruster nozzles. Its futuristic design and versatility make it one of Ace McCloud’s most memorable weapon systems for Centurions collectors.

In the animated series, Orbital Interceptor was adapted for underwater missions in episodes such as “Revenge” and “Atlantis Adventure”, using the similarities between zero-gravity and underwater environments. It could also be combined with the Skybolt weapon system for enhanced configurations. In the Latin American dub, the weapon system was known as “Interceptor Orbital.”
