Flywheels is a 1987 Transformers G1 Duocon that combines two separate vehicles—a maroon F-4 Phantom II-style fighter jet and a brown self-propelled howitzer—to form its robot mode. Pressing the jet onto the tank turret activates a spring-loaded autotransformation gimmick, making Flywheels a distinctive example of the early G1 Duocon concept. He comes with a laser cannon that can mount on either vehicle or be held in robot mode.
For Transformers G1 collectors, Flywheels is notable for its unusual two-vehicle construction and simple vintage engineering. The robot has limited articulation, with only shoulder movement, while the weapon’s 5mm post allows it to be positioned forward despite the restricted hands. The combination of a fighter jet, artillery vehicle, and automatic transformation makes the 1987 Flywheels a memorable late-1980s G1 figure.
