Clash of the Titans Kraken Sea Monster (1980)

The 1980 Mattel Clash of the Titans Kraken Sea Monster is the centerpiece of the original toy line and one of the most impressive vintage fantasy action figures of its era. Standing approximately 15–16 inches tall, the massive creature towers over the smaller 3.75-inch figures and captures the dramatic appearance of Ray Harryhausen’s stop-motion Kraken from the classic film.

The Kraken features four fully articulated arms, a swivel waist, and a long detachable tail with a fin. The four arms allow collectors to pose the monster grabbing figures or attacking ships, while the removable tail was designed to simplify packaging and retail storage.

Originally sold in a large illustrated box, the Kraken is especially prized for its dramatic original box artwork, depicting the monster rising from a stormy sea. Today, the vintage 1980 Mattel Kraken is considered a crown jewel of the Clash of the Titans toy line, with complete, undamaged examples and clean original packaging being particularly desirable to collectors.
