Clash of the Titans Thallo Captain of the Guard (1980)

The 1980 Mattel Clash of the Titans Thallo “Captain of the Guard” action figure is a notable figure from the original toy line, based on Tim Pigott-Smith’s portrayal of Perseus’s loyal companion and protector. Standing approximately 3.75 inches tall, Thallo features a distinctive head sculpt with brown hair and beard, along with a white tunic, silver breastplate, brown boots, and matching wrist gauntlets.

Like Perseus, Thallo uses Mattel’s shared body tooling, meaning the torso, armor, limbs, and boots are essentially identical between the two figures. The primary differences are the head sculpt and paint details, reflecting Mattel’s cost-saving approach to the line.

Thallo originally came with the same generic silver short sword used with Perseus, Calibos, and Charon, plus a circular silver shield featuring a distinctive griffin or lion design. Today, the vintage Thallo figure is collectible for its movie-inspired character sculpt, shared tooling with Perseus, and unique shield accessory.
