Flattop is a 1989 Transformers G1 Micromaster Transport that transforms into a purple-and-gray F-4 Phantom-style fighter jet. Unlike most Micromaster Transports, Flattop does not tow a trailer; instead, he comes with a separate aircraft carrier that transforms into an “interstellar jet.” Flattop can attach to the carrier’s cockpit either standing or seated and comes with two laser cannons.

For Transformers G1 collectors, Flattop stands out for his unusual carrier-based design and striking scale difference between the fighter and its transport. The toy was released unchanged in Japan as the Autobot Skywave, making the 1989 Flattop/Skywave mold an interesting addition to late-G1 Micromaster and Japanese Transformers collections.
