The 1989 Retrocatapult is a vintage TMNT toy weapon released by Playmates Toys as part of the original Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles toyline. Designed in the TMNT lore by Donatello, this “Airborne Ooze Assault Weapon” was created to launch slime at enemies such as Bebop and Rocksteady. The Retrocatapult features a Gross ’n Grubby Garbage Can Launcher, spring-powered launching arms, rotating turtle armor, a Trash Compactor Turtle Seat, and a sturdy three-legged tripod.
The Retrocatapult vintage TMNT toy originally included Retromutagen Ooze as its primary ammunition. Its trash-themed design features garbage-can details and gross-out graphics, while the yellow seat and control handles allow a standard 5-inch TMNT action figure to operate the weapon. The Retrocatapult was also featured in 1989 Playmates television commercials, making it a recognizable accessory from the original vintage TMNT toyline.
