Clash of the Titans Calibos Lord of the Marsh (1980)

The 1980 Mattel Clash of the Titans Calibos action figure, officially titled “Calibos: Lord of the Marsh,” is widely regarded as one of the best-sculpted figures in the original Clash of the Titans toy line. Based on the film’s primary villain, Calibos features a striking likeness to actor Neil McCarthy’s grotesque prosthetic makeup, including molded fangs, a distorted sneer, heavy brow, and single forehead horn.

The figure is molded in olive-green plastic with brown molded armor and features a long, semi-flexible plastic tail attached to the lower back. Like the other figures in Mattel’s budget-conscious line, Calibos came with the same generic gold-colored short sword rather than a character-specific weapon.

Originally sold on a standard blister card with dramatic painted movie artwork, the vintage 1980 Mattel Calibos figure remains a popular collectible for its distinctive monster sculpt, unusual green coloration, flexible tail, and faithful representation of the villain from the classic Clash of the Titans film.
