Clash of the Titans Perseus Hero Son of Zeus (1980)

The 1980 Mattel Clash of the Titans Perseus “Hero Son of Zeus” action figure is the central hero of the original toy line, based on Harry Hamlin’s portrayal of Perseus in the classic film. Standing approximately 3.75 inches tall, the figure wears a white tunic with molded silver armor, brown boots, and wrist gauntlets.

Perseus originally included a silver short sword and circular silver shield. The sword was a shared accessory also packaged with Thallo, Calibos, and Charon, while the shield features a molded starburst design and clips onto Perseus’s arm. Mattel sold Perseus individually on a blister card and as part of the larger Perseus & Pegasus gift set.

Today, the vintage 1980 Mattel Perseus figure is highly collectible, although loose examples commonly show paint wear from years of play. The silver chest armor and brown painted details are particularly susceptible to rubbing and loss, making clean, complete figures with both original weapons especially desirable.
