The 1988 Shredder is a 5-inch Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles action figure released by Playmates Toys in the original TMNT toy line. This classic Shredder figure features five points of articulation, a removable belt, purple fabric cape, and the distinctive unpainted flesh-colored area on the front of his helmet.
The 1988 Shredder includes a Ninja Sword, Kama, two Ninja Stars, and two Fist Daggers from the original weapons rack. Early figures were produced with a soft rubber-vinyl head, while later releases used a harder plastic head, making the Soft Head Shredder a particularly notable vintage TMNT variant for collectors.
