Flamefeather is a 1988 Transformers G1 Firecon that transforms from robot to a distinctive bipedal bird-monster. His signature Firecon gimmick uses a rubber gear-wheel to produce “cold” sparks from the creature’s mouth when the toy is rolled forward. Like the other Firecons, Flamefeather has a simple robot mode with fixed arms, while the beast mode retains some hip movement.
For Transformers G1 collectors, Flamefeather is especially notable for his sparking gimmick and vintage wear points. The pressure required to activate the mechanism can cause scratches and wear around the underside of the toy. The same figure was also released unchanged in Japan for Super-God Masterforce as the Sparkdash drone Sizzle, adding interest for collectors of both US G1 and Japanese Transformers.
