Wheeled Warriors Gun Grinner (1985)

The 1985 Mattel Gun Grinner is a mid-sized villain vehicle from the Monster Minds faction in Wheeled Warriors. Also known as the “Enforcer,” it was marketed as an aggressively armed combat vehicle and remains one of the most recognizable Monster Minds designs in the vintage Mattel toy line. Its brownish-red body combines military hardware with the mutated, organic aesthetic of the Monster Minds.

Gun Grinner’s signature feature is its grotesque grinning monster-face grille, complete with jagged teeth and three molded gun barrels projecting from its mouth. A long green Ambusher/Bola Vine extends from the rear and ends in four spiked pods that can be manually spun as a melee weapon. Additional modular accessories include a green Monster Missile, gray Lifter Gun, silver Jet Blaster, and rear Engine Turbine.

The complete Gun Grinner also includes its black four-point drive frame, two axle extensions, and six chrome modular wheels in three styles: Hypnotizers, Street Beaters, and Road Biters. A small green Monster Mind Brain serves as the pilot. With its memorable monster-face design, extensive modular weapon loadout, and distinctive organic accessories, the Gun Grinner is a standout vintage Mattel Wheeled Warriors collectible.
