Wheeled Warriors Battle Base (1985)

The 1985 Mattel Battle Base is the flagship playset of the Wheeled Warriors toy line, marketed as a “Mobile Fighting Fortress” for the heroic Lightning League. Designed as a futuristic armored command vehicle, it functions as a rolling fortress, expanded playset, and carrying case. When closed, the Battle Base can store and transport up to four standard Wheeled Warriors vehicles.

The Battle Base opens into two large play platforms supported by integrated legs, revealing garage bays, molded tracks, deployable ramps, command areas, and numerous weapon-mounting ports. Its modular design lets children attach spare Wheeled Warriors weapons throughout the fortress, while the ramps allow Lightning League vehicles to roll directly into battle against the Monster Minds.

The set includes left and right rolling track assemblies, garage ramps, computer console, control deck, radar scoop, weapons rack, orange and black cupola domes, an exclusive blonde-haired Lightning League pilot, and a Monster Minds Brain Cage with brain insert. It also contains 20+ weapons and accessories, including the Mind Messer, Swing-Out Shooter, Smoke Screener, 3-Barrel Blaster, guns, lasers, cannons, and a miniature red fire extinguisher. Because of its large number of small, detachable parts, a complete vintage Mattel Battle Base is highly desirable among Wheeled Warriors collectors.
