Downshift (Omnibot, 1984) is a vintage G1 Transformers Autobot that transforms into a white Toyota Celica Supra sports car. Originally released as Camshaft in Japan, Downshift also features a distinctive third “flight/attack” mode with deployable magnetic-guided rocket launchers and a rooftop double-barreled blaster. He includes two rocket launchers and a rust rifle, making this early G1 Omnibot especially appealing to collectors.
Downshift was mail-order exclusive from Hasbro and Takara rather than a standard retail release, adding to his collector interest. Early examples feature “CELICA” on the license plate decal, while later versions have a blank plate. For vintage Transformers collectors, the combination of limited distribution, realistic licensed sports-car styling, multiple modes, and unique accessories makes 1984 G1 Downshift a notable and desirable Omnibot.
